Hey Reader!
My sister introduced me to Olive & June nail polish last year. If you aren't familiar, they are salon quality polishes and all of their products are vegan, cruelty-free and 15-free, meaning they are free of the 15 most toxic ingredients commonly found in nail polish.
If you want to try Olive & June for yourself, you can use my affiliate link to get 20% off any mani or pedi system, which gets you everything you need to get started!
And because of that they are a bit more expensive than I normally spend on nail polish (Dollar Tree anyone..??). Although, tbh, it's been yeeaarrssss since I've actually bought myself any new colors!
Plus, I go through phases of painting my nails and then months where I couldn't care less. I'm currently in the middle of one actually painting my nails just about every week but was getting bored with my current colors. Lucky for me, I found out that Olive & June was having a sale over the weekend where you could get two free polishes with your purchase. (Wahoo free things!)
Long story short, I ended up spending $67.84 on this order. Right before I hit the confirm button, I had the thought: "that's a lot of money for nail polish!!" And while that $67 could have been spent elsewhere in my budget, I also reminded myself that I could easily spend that much on one visit to the salon to have my nails professionally done. And this order of seven new colors, a clear coat and polish remover will easily last me another year or more!
But just like anything when it comes to your money - YOU get to decide what's important to you. If that means going to the salon, that is your choice to make. (I just highly recommend that all of your bills and other important expenses are covered too!)
For me, going to an actual salon isn't as important and I felt good about spending that much on nail polish to have at home. After my initial moment of panic, that is! (Yes, even I have to keep my thoughts and feelings around money in check sometimes.)
The moral of my entire email about nail polish (π€£) is that everything in your budget is a choice. You are in control and you can decide where to spend your money. My priorities aren't going to be the same as yours. As long as your bills are accounted for, go ahead and spend the rest wherever you'd like!
Impatiently waiting for my new colors to arrive,
